AJ: Week 7 (Final Week) Boston Institute for Music & Brain Science

And it’s all over! That was WAY too fast! I can’t believe it. This week was insanity from the get-go knowing that it was my last and aside from packing and just making sure that I get home alright I have to get all this work done! Don’t worry. I did and in doing so ended one of the most amazing experiences of my life on an incredible high note.
So this week was basically spent in Dr. Tramo’s and my office doing lots of coding on MatLab so that we can analyze the data. I have a copy of the code a… Continue

AJ: Week 6 Boston Institute For Music & Brain Science

Well, it figures that the week before I leave is the longest. I didn’t officially have a day off until today. All week I worked to try and finish up the necessary math to be able to write this paper. Unfortunately, I also had to balance setting up the computerized recording system for the NICU (Neonatal [babies] Intensive Care Unit) study.
We finally got all the equipment taken care of and installed on to the computer we’ll be using (another Mac! Ugh!) so this week was all about teaching people… Continue

AJ: Week 5 Boston Institute of Music & Brain Science

Oh my god! I can’t believe it’s almost over. These next two weeks are going to be insane with the amount of work that is going to happen. I’ve never had a project this ambitious and intense! Work this week was fun, Dr Tramo and I had a good laugh about a mistake he made and we’ve started the major push to get everything done now.
The lab is feeling emptier every day. We’ve had two people leave so far, and another will be gone for all of this next week. Currently we have three or four papers circ… Continue

AJ: Week 4 Boston Institute for Music & Brain Science

What can I say? Half way done? It’s incredible how much I’ve done, and, more importantly, how much more there is to do! I apologize that this is going to be shorter than usual, but as exciting as this week was, there were only a few things that happened.
To start, I guess I should talk about how my work in school is proving more and more relevant to what I’m doing in this internship. It turns out that the statistics class I took this year has proven incredibly useful! I’ve started programming wi… Continue

AJ: Week 3 Boston Institute of Music & Brain Science

Amazing, three weeks are gone. Telluride really does move at its own pace. Work and life in general is just getting faster and faster. I am now working on finishing a paper for Dr. Tramo. My statistics course is coming back to my aid as I now have to perform linear regressions and other such statistical analysis on data to create a conclusion about a new relationship that an experiment has revealed. In scientific terms, I’m performing statistical operations on data judging the relationship betwe… Continue
