This week was my favorite so far. I was called upon to solder every time they needed someone because I am the "expert!" No, kidding, but I did get plenty of practice in. And we had to give a final presentation which was interesting for me because I haven't been there from the beginning. But I went along with it and realized most of the work had actually been done in the last two weeks, while I was there. So that was good to hear. My laser board ended up working perfectly, as did the work on the robotic arm. All of this though is not without thank yous and lessons from the experts (kids my age) that knew exactly what they were doing. And they did it with modesty even when teaching me. I learned about transistors and closed circuits and H bridges. I now somewhat understand them and was able to explain the middle one to another intern. I was invited back next summer and might even take them up on that offer, but we will see. And this weekend I had a very education experience. I went to this 3D model of the hydralics and tides and currents of the bay area and it was extremely educational. I had no idea that they take out 6 million cubic yards of sledge per year out of the bay to keep the shore level the same and so that ships can navigate it because most of the bay is less than 18 ft deep! 18 feet! Even though it strayed from NASA, it was still very interesting! And I am working on uploading some pictures but they wont copy and paste or save so its kind of not working but I am sure I will figure it out! That's all for now, let's see what this week entails...
